Xiao Tai-ran, born in Kaohsiung Fengshan,
devoted his life to the incorporation of Taiwanese music into Western music.

Master Xiao Tai-ran's creations are like the stars in the night sky, guiding the lost souls home. To commemorate this national treasure musician, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra composed an album so the master's complete innovative ideas could be preserved.
以生命譜寫
音樂會特別邀請蕭老師熟識的優秀國內音樂家，與國立臺灣交響樂團以各種編制型態的作品，呈現大作曲家以生命譜寫的樂章。
Outstanding local musicians that were of master Xiao's acquaintances were gathered together with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra to compose the wonderful chapters that the master wrote.
歌曲《阿母的頭鬘》以大自然譬喻母親的秀髮，追念母親的愛與生涯；《爸爸的筆》歌頌著父愛。小提琴曲《夢幻的恆春小調》與《台灣頌》等、鋼琴三重奏《福爾摩沙》與原住民鋼琴五重奏，都來自蕭老師一生經歷的深刻體驗，以及對於台灣這片土地的深情愛戀。管弦樂曲《來自福爾摩沙的天使》總是讓聽者為之動容流淚。《福爾摩沙》交響曲是蕭老師嘗試打破調性藩籬以現代手法創作的交響曲。史詩般的《1947序曲》，創作時期蕭老師更曾經歷死蔭幽谷，一度生命垂危，後終痊癒，蕭老師一直認為上帝為了讓他完成這首作品而讓他得以重生，曲中所楬櫫的「愛與希望」映照著蕭老師謙卑而溫暖的一生，讓人無限感佩。
The song "Mother's Hair" used the nature as a metaphor to describe mothers' hair; and in the memory of a mother's love and life. The song "Father's Pen" praised the fatherly love. Master Xiao's life experience and his love to Taiwan served as an important inspiration towards the violin pieces, the piano trio "Formosa" and the aboriginal piano quintet that he composed. The Orchestra "Angel from Formosa" always draws tears in the audience's eyes. "The Formosa" symphony is master Xiao' attempt in creating modern symphony. The epical piece "1947 Overture", was created during the time when master Xiao was severely sick that death was near. Luckily he has gained recovery and he interpreted it as a sign that God wanted him to finish his work. The hidden message in the song about love and hope acts as a true reflection of master Xiao's humble and warm life.
